Cedars Upper Odyssey, episode four

The Creeper tilts his head to one side and listens hard, but no answers come to him out of the big blue beyond. All he can hear is the birds, singing loudly, and too cheerfully by half. He shouldn’t have been expecting anything, not really, should he? It’s not the first time he’s asked for guidance - not by a long chalk - but as usual he’s left to muddle through on his own.
Should he, or shouldn’t he kill her? There’s such a big part of him that wants to. It would be so easy, and of course he’d take the body with him and no-one would ever find her.

Suzy doesn’t know if she can make it in time. She’s running so fast that she can hardly feel her legs at all. She’s not even sure if she’s really running, or falling. But, somehow, she gets to the bottom of the hill. There’s no time to stop and think. Her parents’ blue car has almost reached the corner.
Suzy runs into the road, straight into the path of the oncoming green car.

When Snow finds the mirror it is face up under a covering of undergrowth. It looks like it’s been there for years and years. In her dream, the frame was glossy black, and now it is rotted almost completely away. The glass which was shining brightly is now blackened, and peeling.
Snow clears off the worst of the undergrowth and looks into the mirror. Her reflection looks back at her. The ancient mirror makes her look pock-marked and strange, but basically just her normal same-old reflection, that she looks at every day in the bathroom mirror. Nothing special. Nothing magical. Why had she expected any different?

The wind rushing around and even through her knocks the breath right out of Suzy’s chest. She falls forward and out of the tree trunk and into … somewhere completely different than the moonlit trees she’s left behind.
Suzy’s standing in the middle of a field, on a slight slope, leading down and towards a country road. The sun is shining. It’s not too hot, or too cold. It’s like a perfect Spring day. Come to think of it, Suzy can even smell the spring, as she catches her breath again. The air is full of possibilities. The earth feels like it’s changing shape around her.

On the 10th March 2012 interested people were invited to walk the Children’s Trail route with Martin Heron, and discuss the ideas & inspiration behind the art work planned for the Trail.
Today at Pulford Lower School participants brought objects to cast with artist Martin Heron. One girl brought a stone egg her Grandma had given to her just before she died. A boy brought in a tin car that his Great Grandad gave him especially for the workshop. What special object would you choose to bring to make a casting of? And what is the story behind your chosen object?
Cedars Upper Odyssey: episode two
You can read the first part of this story here.
Snow is startled awake by the loud sharp snap of a twig breaking. Someone’s here. Someone has found her. She lifts her head from her mossy pillow, cautiously. Perhaps they won’t notice her if she stays still. She has been dreaming. In her dreams, she heard chanting, monotonous chanting, repeating the same thing, over and over. It was strangely comforting. In her dreams, there was a crowd of people in a forest clearing, standing in a large circle. In the centre of the circle, there was a mirror.
